What would you say if someone asked you: "What would you do if you won the Lotto?" Would you answer at all? Wouldn't you just say, "What's the point in answering if I'm obviously not going to win?"

Forget about getting rich and just ask yourself: What do you dream about?
My answer to this question was always the same: "I dream about traveling around the world".

Twenty years ago such a trip was hard to imagine. Even the shortest trip abroad was a big adventure. My parents never had passports, yet I continued dreaming about travelling, about seeing all that I had learned from pictures in books and from studying foreign languages. When I was 22 and common sense made my girlfriends start to get married, I decided not to get in the rut of a medium-size town: work in an office, settle down with a family, get a pension, etc. So I left for Italy to be an au pair. The journey by bus took 30 hours as there were no cheap airlines at that time, and the Poles could not afford to travel with regular airlines. I fell in love with Rome at first sight. This trip radically changed my life and my personality. That was when my big adventure started.

In 2003, I went to London. There I met young students who had crossed the continents. I understood that one does not have to be a millionaire to travel across the world. In 2007 I set off from London with one backpack for my one-year trip around the world.

At present I work as a translator. I chose this profession because of my passion for foreign languages, but more so because this job allows me to work on the Internet, which translates to any place in the world. Sometimes I laugh: "One day, I'm going to work sitting under palm trees". It's a kind of joke but... I believe that it is going to happen.

Well, I am not sitting under palm trees but I can be there easily... I live in Mexico since March 2010. Me and my partner have just made our next dream come true: we have opened a hostel for backpackers and travellers IGUANA HOSTEL. Visit us here
